When Software was Hardware…

In Random on June 26, 2014 at 1:31 am

Okay folks, digging through tons of stuff and getting rid of it.  Came across this note.  This is probably around 1989 or 1990 as far as I can remember.  We had a problem that came up on Friday night and I had to write to my boss about it.    Some definitions

  • VLC = VAXstation Low Cost
  • FB – Frame Buffer (graphics memory)
  • LCG – Low Cost Graphics
  • CFGTST – the Configuration Test Register
  • ABO – Albuquerque Digital Manufacturing Facility
  • CMS – Code Management System
  • PCA – DEC’s lingo for a manufacturing ECO (basically not a part change, but a change to the build process)
  • VRAM – Video Ram
  • 23-Class release – a hardware part number release for firmware (for the ROMs)

Have fun reading it… (if you click on the pictures you can blow them up to readable size)
